How I work
Therapy is a very individual undertaking, and it is essential that you feel safe with your therapist. That is why I suggest that we meet initially for us to discover whether we can work together and if you require short term or open-ended therapy. All content within sessions is strictly confidential.
Our initial consultation usually lasts an hour. During that time, you can tell me what is troubling you and we can discuss our thoughts about working with each other. This session will not obligate you in any way but will help you decide whether further therapy is the right path for you. I will make a recommendation of what is best suited for your specific needs if we conclude that it is not appropriate.
If we agree to work together, we will meet regularly at the same time each week for 50 minutes each time. This session will be reserved for you until your therapy ends.
As therapy progresses and you begin to recognise the underlying issues you may notice positive changes in your life and relationships. Sometimes therapy also involves the acknowledgement of painful feelings that may have been avoided for a long time. This is normal and an important part of the work and you will be given the time and space to work through these feelings. My aim is to help people gain a greater understanding of why they feel the way they do, and consequently manage their lives differently.
