Why Therapy

Why therapy

Everyone encounters difficulties at some point in their lives and people seek therapy for a variety reasons. These may encompass general daily life anxieties or complex and difficult situations.

The length of treatment will differ from one person to another depending on their individual needs. Sometimes difficulties are caused by recent life events and sometimes they arise from the build-up of feelings and problems that have occurred all through life.

It can feel daunting to approach a stranger to discuss personal matters. I believe that one of the most important elements in a successful therapy is a trusting relationship between therapist and client so it is important to find someone with whom you feel comfortable.

Psychodynamic therapy

As a psychodynamic psychotherapist, I consider that problems in the present have often originated in past experiences. Understanding these is an important step towards breaking unhelpful patterns of thinking and achieving changes in perception and relationships.

Talking to a trained and experienced therapist can help you gain a more reflective and objective perspective on your life, and a better capacity to relate to yourself and others.
